Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a national PTK website?
YES! The national website is www.ptk.org. It tells all kind of neat stuff including scholarship opportunities.

When is the Spring 2010 deadline to submit PTK dues and membership application?
The deadline for Spring 2010 is to be announced. Membership applications and dues may be paid online to PTK as instructed in your invitation letter from the PTK advisors, or taken or mailed to Jennifer Feenstra, Rm 126 of Academic 3 at the Oakwood campus or to Dr. Nina Lamson , Room 710, at Oconee. Please provide the correct amount of dues ($56) as change cannot be made. Checks should be made out to Gainesville State College with PTK dues on subject line. You may complete an application and pay membership dues by credit card online at www.ptk.org/acceptmembership/ with your unique passcode Conf# on your address label.

When & where is the Spring 2010 Induction Ceremony?
The induction ceremony for 2009 Fall semester will be held on March 25, 2010 in the Business/CE Building auditorium at 4:30 p.m.

How can I remember the date for the Induction Ceremony?
Check the PTK bulletin board just down from the ACTT center in Academic Building 3 or check this website. Your name as a new inductee will also be posted on the bulletin board the day before our Induction Ceremony. Oconee students should see Dr. Lamson in room 710.

What do I wear to the Induction Ceremony?
Wear what you will be comfortable in. This is a special occasion. Some students dress up. Some students can’t go home during the day to change, so they wear their regular school clothes. Note: A group photo will be taken of the new Inductees, so think of how you will look in that photo when you choose your outfit for that occasion.

Who can come with me to the Induction Ceremony?
Family, friends, faculty, staff, students are all invited to the ceremony to honor our inductees.  The advisors love meeting proud family members and friends of our new PTK membership.  And personal photos can be taken throughout the ceremony.  Any of the PTK advisors will be happy to snap a family photo with your family camera of the new inductee and proud family for a lovely lifetime memory.

What PTK regalia can I wear at graduation?
Gainesville State College provides inducted PTK members who walk in the graduation ceremony with a PTK monogrammed gold stole.  Rho Mu club members can purchase their own graduation tassels with the distinct PTK logo for $10 or the PTK graduate gold and blue Double Honor Cords (which are worn over the gold stole) for $13 from any of the PTK Advisors. This saves our members the time, cost, and inconvenience of ordering and paying shipping costs online. However, PTK members can go online to the PTK website and order honor cords, tassels, and many other memorable graduation mementos and accessories.  These are not required, but are acceptable to show your membership in PTK.

When will I begin receiving information from PTK?
After the induction ceremony, the advisors forward the information from your membership application and your dues on to international headquarters.  The headquarters will send a packet to you with a personalized PTK certificate of membership suitable for framing, a PTK lapel pen, and PTK information and items of interest.  The time frame for receiving your packet may be 3 weeks to a month after the induction ceremony, so be patient!

Congratulations on your invitation to join PTK!
