About the Fair

 The Northeast Georgia Regional Social Studies Fair will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Nesbitt Building on the campus of Gainesville State College in Oakwood, Georgia, between the hours of 8AM and 2PM. You will enter on the 3rd floor - the exhibition hall is located in rooms 3110A and B.

   Schedule of Events
 

8-9:30am: Students set-up projects

9-9:30am: Judges orientation

9:30-11:30am: Judging

11:30-12:30pm: Student interviews

12:30-1:30pm: Lunch

1:30-2:00pm: Projects Open to the Public

2:00pm: Awards Ceremony

   Detailed information about all local and regional fairs, information about developing a social studies fair project, and the number of projects that each local system can send to the regional fair may be found by visiting the Website of the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (G.C.S.S.).

   Each participant must complete the Entry Form and the Media Release Form.  Each participant must also fill in all of the information in the rectangle at the bottom of the second page of the Judge's Score Sheet ("Project Number" may be left blank).  NOTE: Please make sure that everything else on the Judge's Score Sheet is blank except for the information at the bottom of the second page; please DO NOT send a photocopy of the Judges Score Sheet from the local level.  We need fresh, unscored copies to give to our judges at the Regional Fair.

Please type or print neatly all information requested on the Entry Form, the Media Release form, and the Judge's Score Sheet and mail all three completed forms to the following address:

Forms must be received by Friday, January 18, 2013. 

   Upon arriving to campus on the day of the fair, drivers should follow the signs to the Nesbitt Building on the west side of campus.  Participants and their projects may be dropped off in front of the Nesbitt Building, but please park in the lots to either side of the building.  Upon entering the Nesbitt Building, participants should check in at the greeting table on their left where they will be instructed where to set up their projects.  After setting up, participants and parents are asked to wait in the atrium for the start of the event.
